What to Expect from Integrative Couples Counselling

A 90-minute space to reconnect, communicate, and heal.

Working with couples requires a specialised approach that looks at the relationship as the "client."

In our sessions, I integrate three of the most researched and effective frameworks in modern therapy to help you find your way back to one another.

In individual therapy, "Integrative" means I draw from a rich palette of psychological traditions to support your specific needs. Rather than following a rigid script, I listen for the unique "melody" of your life, using proven frameworks to help you find clarity and relief.

1. Building a Strong Foundation (The Gottman Method)

Using insights from the Gottman Method, we look at the practical "blueprints" of your relationship. We identify the patterns that cause conflict and replace them with proven tools to increase intimacy, manage disagreement, and build a "Sound Relationship House." This helps us move from criticism toward curiosity.

2. Understanding the Heart (Emotionally Focused Therapy - EFT)

Relationships are built on our need for secure attachment. Drawing from EFT, we explore the emotional "music" beneath your arguments. Often, couples get stuck in a repetitive "dance" of pursuing and withdrawing. We work together to identify these cycles and create a safe emotional bond where both partners feel seen and secure.

3. Deepening the Connection (Imago Relationship Therapy)

Using the Imago approach, we look at the "image" we carry of love and how our past experiences influence our current triggers. We use specialized dialogue techniques to help you truly hear one another, turning conflict into an opportunity for mutual healing and deeper understanding.

Why 90 Minutes?

I offer longer sessions for couples because I believe your relationship deserves the time to breathe. A 90-minute session ensures that:

  • Both voices are fully heard without feeling rushed.
  • We have space to de-escalate "hot" topics safely.
  • You leave the session feeling regulated and connected, rather than mid-argument.

The Togetherness Approach

Whether you are navigating the unique pressures of ministry life or simply feeling "out of tune" with one another, our work will be collaborative and grace-filled. We don't just look at what is "wrong"; we work to restore the togetherness that brought you together in the first place.
